Oral Surgery
Oral surgery is the specialist branch of stomatology dealing with diagnostics, conservative and surgical cure of diseases pertaining to teeth, jaw, oral cavity and all adjacent areas, as well as the plastic and reconstructive interventions. It consists of dental, pre-prosthetic, specific and non-specific surgery of the jaw and infections of the oral cavity, surgical prosthetics and implantology. Oral surgery is closely related to maxillofacial surgery, and they both offer the best results when combined together. Thus, it is hard to define the dividing line between these two specialistic fields; however the gap between them is bridged by the close cooperation of professional specialists.
Oral implantology is the stomatological discipline based on oral surgery and stomatological prosthetics. It consists of inserting special titanium root-supports (i.e. implants) into the upper or lower jaw. Those implants might considerably improve or even totally replace the function of natural teeth.
Before inserting such implants, a specialist check-up at our Polyclinic is required, which is followed by the treatment of the oral cavity, removal of deposits, and finally ending with the insertion of the implants themselves. Currently, this method represents the optimal aesthetic and functional solution, and it is also much more sophisticated than the obsolete and surpassed technology of making dentures.
Our Polyclinic is equipped with a modern operating room, where we perform all types of surgical operations of the oral cavity, such as alveolectomy (surgical reduction of the residual alveolar process in order to extract the wisdom teeth), apicectomy (surgical removal of the crown's peak due to inflammation), frenulectomy, molding of the alveolar bone, sinus lifting, and other surgical interventions on the oral cavity.
